8 years ago today was one of the worst days in American History in my memory. The attacks on the World Trade Center towers in NY and the Pentagon in DC and that plane going down in the Pennsylvania field will remain in my memory forever. Do I believe it was a terrorist attack? Yes. Do I believe that Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban had a major role in it? Yes.
I'm not sure if I knew anyone that died in the attacks and crash. But I truly hope that their families are getting better through the grieving process. It takes longer for some people to grieve than others.
I was on my way home from work when I heard that the first tower was hit. I was at a stoplight and my jaw just dropped. I did a u-turn and went straight to my brother and sister-in-law's house because that was close to the school I worked at and didn't know if I was going to get called in or not, since a lot of parents were military that had their kids go to the school. I was on the phone with my now husband and saw the plane hit the second tower. I couldn't believe it. I have friends in the military, My thoughts immediately went to them and their families. Then the Pentagon, at first it was a helicopter catching fire at a landing pad then it came through that it was one side of the Pentagon and that they were still missing a plane. They grounded all air traffic. Then it came through that a plane had crashed in a field in PA. Those brave people trying to save others. They weren't thinking about themselves.
I read a post on Facebook today of a friend who was on vacation in the Phillipines when the attacks happened, had she been at work she would have been dead. She worked in the Pentagon on the side that got hit. She's got a beautiful boy and expecting another child soon. God has a purpose for all of us.
Remember this day, remember all of those who lost their lives and their families. Remember those who have also survived that ordeal because they have been truly blessed and given a second chance.
I hope you have a blessed day! God has given you this day make the most of it.
