Water is good for you. Plain and simple. I've seen bad things happen when you don't hydrate enough. Heck, I had heat exhaustion almost heat stroke because I wasn't hydrating enough. When you're pregnant they tell you to hydrate. The list goes on and on for reasons to hydrate.
Maybe I knew it in the back of my mind that with hydrating properly it'll help your veins if you have to undergo IV treatments. I've mentioned Erin Vest before in an earlier blog. For those of you who don't want to go back and read it (you should though), she is in the process of kicking Lupus's butt. I will admit I do not know much about this disease but when I get a break and I'm not sleeping or writing a blog post I try to read up on this and other diseases that have or are affecting family, friends, and my social media friends.
Earlier this week Erin posted on twitter ( she's @queenofspain) that the doctor cut her treatment short because it was taking a serious toll on her and her viens. Later that evening she made a tweet that she was hydrating to help her viens so it wouldn't be as bad for her next treatment. That got me to thinking. I know, scary. Since we all know that water IS beneficial for us, I propose this: How about we drop a few of our usual favorite drinks and put water in it's place? Not just for Erin (but she's my reason for this), but do it for ALL who have to take IV treatments.
This economy is hard on all of us and I think this small gesture is simple and easy enough to let those who have to do this know that we are there for them cheering them on, showing our love and support.
If you are on twitter and you are cool with doing this please use the hashtag #drinkwater . I know, dorky. This means a lot to me and I would appreciate if you join me. I drink water but not enough in my opinion. I am not asking you to totally cut yourself off from your favs, I know most of you mainline coffee daily. Just try to add some more water. Thank you.
