Where to start:
I have a cousin, I think she recently turned 21 and she is pregnant for the 2nd time (she lost the first pregnancy). I'm not knocking her for that one bit, I'm happy for her. She posted on facebook recently a few names that she was running through her head. They were all names of alcohol brands. Have you ever wanted to reach through the internet and shake someone on the other side? I did. I'm all about being creative with naming kids. Mind you we were quite traditional, old fashioned almost.
My other "smh" moment was when I read a post another cousin shared on facebook about people not knowing the sinking of the HMS Titanic 100 years ago was real. REALLY?! I learned about the Titanic when I was in school!! It was brief but it was mentioned. When I read what these people had posted on Twitter I was floored, I also texted my oldest nephew to find out if he knew about the Titanic. He did.
You would think with all this information so easily accessible online people would know this. But it also tells me that teachers aren't allowed to teach events in history, no matter how small. Stupid tests.
